Attention Frizz fighters
As I am sure many of you have heard of there is a hair treatment out there that is suppose to be a miracle worker for those of us gals that have frizzy, unruly hair! Well, I happen to be one of those ladies that after spending an hour straightening their hair, gets this sort of halo effect of frizz two hours into the night! But there is help out there for us! There is this new (semi-new) hair treatment that has become very popular called Keratin. Keratin is an actual protein that helps strengthen your hair and also cuts out all the frizz. This treatment is offered at many salons and can be kind of pricey, but the good thing is that it lasts up to 6 months! So, I have broken down and decided to get it done this weekend! I am very excited but at the same time very nervous because for three days, I can’t wash or pull my hair back, not even with a small barrette. That may be tough especially if it is going to be as hot as it was this past weekend, but I am thinking it will be worth it! So, if you are one of those people that are always fighting frizz, you should definitely look into a Keratin treatment, I think you will be very happy!

Fashion Jewelry vs. Fine Jewelry

Over the last decade, it seems as though fashion jewelry has squeezed itself back into the market place, allowing women to wear cheaper jewelry while still looking trendy. As a young adult in the 90’s, I as well as my peers always wore real gold jewelry (that we have since traded in for Cash for Gold). It seems that the trend then was to spend more on rings and earrings and get the real stuff than to go to the mall and buy the fake earrings that turn your ears black! But now, this has changed! Many women are buying fun, trendy jewelry at a cheaper price, that they may only wear a few times. I personally buy “fashion jewelry” because I love the new funky earrings and bracelets that are cheap enough to buy and only use three or four times because they will probably go out of style soon…..and I also have a problem with losing all of the expensive jewelry that I have ever owned! I feel like as though many women have been in the same situation as I have where they have lost one diamond earring, and have to replace it with a fake one so that their significant other (who bought the earrings for them) won’t notice!! And since working at Chadwick’s I have been able to take of their fun, fashion jewelry offered online a pretty reasonable price! Would you rather wear fashion jewelry or fine jewelry? Rain, Rain, Go Away!

I guess you can say the northeast has gotten more than its fair share of rain this month and there is only one thing good about it (except the fact that we will all have lawns that look like Fenway Park!)……we get to wear cute rain boots! I recently got rain boots for Christmas and I think that I got them just in time due to the amount of rain we received this year already. They are super cute black high boots with big white polka dots all over. To tell you the truth, I even wear them when it’s not raining. It seems that these rain boots are every where, I see them in all the stores with crazy designs and colors, making it actually fun to wear them even though rain isn’t too fun! They also have really cute kid’s boots, my niece has a pair that looks like little frog faces and she also has the matching umbrella! All in all, even when it rains you want to look your best, so go grab a fun pair of rain galoshes and make a statement!

Shoes Galore!!
The other day someone asked me how many pairs of shoes I had, and when I told them about 100, he looked at me like I had ten heads. In my mind it is normal for women to have that many pairs of shoes, but after asking a few other co-workers, I came to the conclusion that it really isn’t that normal or should I say common to own that many shoes. Well actually if I asked my sister, she would agree that having a lot of shoes is a staple! She has way more shoes that I do, to the point where she has to hide them from her husband. She actually just bought a really cute pair of sandals from Chadwick’s that she had to intercept from the UPS man before her husband got home.
I love shoes, they are the one article of clothing that you can never look fat in and they always look good on you!! And I also think that shoes can make or break an outfit, for example you could be wearing the cutest black top with a nice pair of jeans and throw on funky pair of bright pink heels giving the outfit a totally new twist! Or you could put on a pair of shoes that you still have from high school and completely ruin the outfit! Whatever the case, you should always be conscience of your shoes and make sure they make a statement!

Nude Lips

So, I have been admiring all of these famous celebrities with their gorgeous make-up and wondering how I could look like that without having 5 make-up artists touching up my make-up 3 times a day! My first step was to go to the web and see what I could find on make-up tutorials, and I found some really great stuff! YouTube offers a wide variety of eye make-up applications showing you how to have smoky eyes like Kim Kardashian or a more elegant look like Taylor Swift! It is really helpful and it gives step by step instructions to get the look you have always dreamed of! My latest tip was the nude lips that all the big celebrities are sporting these days. You basically white out your lips to have no color then put a gloss over them. It looks great with a dark and drastic eye make-up allowing all the focus to be on your eyes and not your lips. Simply use a concealer on your lips (not too much, making you look lipless), and then apply a shiny clear lip gloss. I tried it out last week and got so many compliments!!

Halloween Contest!!

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween. Every year at Chadwicks we have a Halloween costume contest. Every year I try to get my department to dress up and every year my cheap co-worker Sara does not want to spend money on a costume so we end up not participating. This year we got creative and dressed up on a budget. We become the Boston Area General Hospital. Sara got to be a cardiothoracic surgeon for the day and I was the head of nursing. We made the finance intern dress up as a patient. We covered his face and arms with scabby looking blood and placed a latex compound fracture on his arm. He looked disgusting!!! There were seven of us who dressed up…three doctors, two nurses and two patients. We even put up X-rays and MRIs on the windows to give the full effect of a hospital. Today we found out that we came in third place in the contest! I was excited to win third place, but Dan who also dressed up with us quoted Ricky Bobby from Talladega Nights and said “if you’re not first you’re last.” LOL! Oh well maybe next year!

Lights, Camera, Beautiful!

So, I just wanted to Blog about my latest make-up purchase that I am completely in love with. I recently made a trip the local make-up counter and purchased a make-up kit by Smashbox to make my face look camera ready! I was a little skeptical at first, considering my new laugh lines and age spots that I have received since hitting 30, but I figured I would give it a shot. There are 5 steps, which may seem like a lot but it is totally worth it. It comes with a cd that gives you tips and a tutorial on how to apply the make-up, and after that all you need is a little mascara (my favorite) to complete your look. I would totally recommend spending the money to anyone who thinks their face could use a little help!!

Martinis and martini bars have become a huge craze in the past few years. The standard martini before this new trend was some gin and dry vermouth, garnished with an olive (yuck!), but now you can get an array of yummy martinis! As a part-time bartender I have the pleasure of making a lot of these fun drinks and usually try them to make sure they taste good! The latest martini that I love is one made with Bubble Gum vodka, it is delicious! It can be used with so many different things, no matter what you mix it with it always tastes good. I like it with sprite and a little splash of grenadine. Martini bars/lounges are also popping up everywhere offering a lot of these specialty drinks. The thing that I like about martini bars is that you can enjoy a drink while talking with a few friends without loud music and chaos all around. These types of bars create an atmosphere that is pleasing to a person like me who likes to dress up in a little black dress and go out to enjoy a few drinks with friends but not have to go to a night club! Flats that HEEL!

As we all know, flats are in style especially for the summer season and I am ecstatic about it. I was always the girl that was wearing heels on every occasion except of course the gym, and you would never find me in flats. I always felt a little boyish if I wasn’t wearing heels, but now I am way over that!! I am totally obsessed with flats and I keep buying more and more! And the best part about them is that they not only look adorable but they are so comfy too. I use to be the queen of blisters with band-aids all over my feet when my motto was fashion over function, but now I can say I am band-aid free and still trendy!!
